Remix OS for PC Repair

There's no repair yet, sorry.

So....better create a copy of data.img from C:\RemixOS\data.img

How to? Click on the file, right click, choose copy, then paste on other secure place in your disk.

It's just 16gig so it won't matter compared to recreating the whole Remix OS system and apps and accounts.

Remember, Android were made for battery powered devices that corruption from sudden power outage is somewhat forsaken.

I got away five times when I booted into windows and then chkdsk which asked for restart (with /f)...so try chkdsk first..if that will do...

If you have flash drive with Partition Magic, start booting from it, and they say you can fsck -a /dev/sda1 your hard drive. I don't know if that will work since Testdisk has the same capability but were not able to repair the image using testdisk_win.exe c:\RemixOS\data.img unless you know how to fsck.ext4 -p -b superblock -B blocksize device.

Yet the same severe corruption with windows need reformatting, if repair reformat can't do the job

So how is that done with Remix OS?

Just Uninstall Remix OS, delete data.img, restart computer, install Remix OS again, and then COPY THE BACK UP data.img AND PASTE BACK TO THE REMIX OS FOLDER

Googling the topic this time just gives you how to on installing Remix OS, since even it passed beta testing, we're still early starters trying the program.

So back up and worry not. God bless Remix OS Team and all of us.

Added 20 May 2017: Remix OS for PC ver 3.0.207 did not work on my old Intel PC. It will install, it will update especially Google updates, but it will be buggy. It ran Clash of Clan without problem, but you can't run or install other additional apps anymore. So better use ver. 2.0.402. But the original version is no longer downloadable at android-x86.org. You'll just be redirected to jide.com which only has 3.0.207. If you want just the original jide.com file for your old intel pc just download the x32 bit of 3.0.207. Your computer may be not older than mine and it might work better. You can google though for the file "release_Remix_OS_for_PC_32bit_B2016040501" and download from links you trust. I have the original old version though but I have a slow uploading internet connection. You can ask me for the old original untouched version and I'll send you a copy for free but at your shipping expense just for the old pcs still out there and for the support of Jide. If you're near my place you can just drop by and copy my file all for free. Or you can write Jide or android-x86 to offer the download again.

Praised be Jesus and Mary!

Added 25 May 2018: Remix OS for Pc is dead now! Unless you know where to get the iso working with google play store "as if". Just download from official androidx86 Remix OS. Yes, try it and you will be redirected to jide which already don't offer the download anymore. Roll the drum please....

Here is the download link of Chih-Wei Huang http://www.android-x86.org/download unless of course changed. Look for Remix OS for pc below and choose x86 or x64. Now you will be redirected to fosshub. What iso then will you choose legacy, player, efi and legacy, pixel c, nexus 9?

1. Legacy means your motherboard bios is old and is not efi capable even if win 8 and 10 runs on it
2. player is for the remix os player hardware which can be bought on jide so don't be confused

3. efi and legacy is for newer motherboard, efi is enabled and used by win 8 and 10, disabled for win7
4. pixel c is a google tablet
5. nexus 9 is an HTC android tablet

I have an old motherboard without efi bios and runs win 7 so I downloaded legacy
If you have new laptop with win 10 its automatically efi and legacy
pixel c tablet has been out of manufacturing
nexus 9 is for flushing this iso or custom rom on nexus 9 tablet

So you have the right iso eh! But playstore don't work especially if you add 10 google account. Don't worry just use the remix os playstore to install your favorite Clash of Clan for example and then... sssshh! this is just a secret between you and me CoC addicts...add your accounts within CoC apps, not in google accounts or android accounts adding not even in google play games apps...and then another secret...don't tell this to google engineers....don't run additional apps even google chrome since it won't work either...mine just ran lite antivirus...there you go....if the 10 accounts is erased after a week of playing don't worry... remix os still works...and just think that you'll have to enter to your favorite pc games per account...voala...after playing all 10 accounts again...the account suddenly just stick like old times....be quiet or we might end up buying 10 android tablet per account haha....

Added 7 December 2018:
Creating another partition exclusively for Remix OS, (mine is 14gig only) and installing there, is more stable than having only one hard drive with one partition.

C:\windows system partition, file partition
D:\Remix OS partition, don't use for windows file saving

Try though having another hard disk exclusively for Remix OS only. But I doubt it, since windows might use it as a system cache for example, unless of course your Windows hard drive is faster and bigger.

You'll come back to me and say, hey it still gets corrupted. No worries, this technique is mine and yours only CoC addicts...roll the drum again...

If you'll start Remix OS start from a powered off computer, meaning if you will enter windows first then restart the computer then enter remix OS, corruption enters in. Similar also to starting Remix OS from a powered off computer then restarting Remix OS, then entering Windows. Similar also to starting Remix OS from a powered off computer then restarting Remix OS, then entering Remix OS again. WHY oh why?

My theory is still the same that the Android kernel is created for battery operation that is easily susceptible to a current fluctuation on an AC powered desktop plugged (even with a UPS). So test it on an unplugged laptop heh.

The weird part though is that it still releases the 10 CoC accounts after every playstore or play services update which needs a restart (or even a shutdown) which reenters the windows boot choice that releases the 10 CoC accounts. Although it doesn't corrupt it since installed apps are still there, the only solution is to still reenter each CoC accounts again, play it one by one, until you complete the 10 accounts again.

I think my theory will end up going to Remix OS single boot installing on a separate hard disk since it will enter a linux grub boot loader and not a windows boot loader and then a bios choice of which hard disk to boot from before this grub booter even shows because if you have another windows hard disk on the computer it can't detect this other hard disk being linux ext formatted and windows wont be able to meddle with the android state of affairs, weh hehe..but I haven't tried it yet against corruption...you can wait for me to test it...or try it yourself already...

Still Running Remix OS This August 2020?

Yes, because I have no money to buy a pc build for BlueStack.

I am running Remix OS because my old android 5.1 phone battery can't handle my gaming anymore.

But I still have this old computer build Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz, with only its built in graphics Intel g33/31 express chipset family, and 3gig of ddr2. No I don't have ssd but just an old western digital hardisk.

Poor me? Yes!

It took me the stubbornness to teach you to download this zip file Remix_OS_for_PC_Android_M_32bit_B2016112201 which has an inbuilt Google PlayStore. Just google it and choose a trustworthy server where you can download it like here.

My Win 10 32bit is updated and ver. 2004 or the so called May 2020. Just install it inside Win 10 and restart to the dual boot Remix OS choice. At the start you have to check a box that you want to activate google playstore. Log in your google account and update. That's it.

The technique I will have to teach you is not new, and have discussed it already. But this is important and you have to take note with your own blood. 😂Ready? Don't restart either win 10 or remix os! Click instead the shut down button everytime.

After setting up win 10 32bit I think I wouldn't use windows again, unless necessary like chkdsk to repair unbootable remix os. Just test that if it's effective in not loosing your 10 supercell Clash of Clan account every powering on 😢(the remix os starts without some of the apps or changes to it has not been saved the next time you boot to it). Enjoy!

Don't have a supercell ID yet. Convert your google Clash of Clan to supercell! Avoid loosing those 10 google Clash of Clan accounts after every reboot. The difference is that 10 supercell ID added on Clash of Clan won't make 10 google accounts on Remix OS that triggers its being corrupted.

*Ahh ok, install Bitdefender Free Antivirus and scan which will tell you to uninstall the alternative playstore installed since it's a virus.

**just clear cache and data of google playstore and re enter your google account if you can't download anything from the playstore

***download only from google playstore (I haven't disabled unknown sources though)
